Season 4 – epiBLOG 6:

I can’t believe an entire month has come and gone already. It’s now time for The Book & Learn Corner once again. The book that I will be discussing today is one that I received exactly a year ago this month when I had attended Jack Canfield’s Breakthrough to Success week long seminar. That was an amazing experience! I recommend that you attend it before The Chicken Soup for the Soul guy (Jack Canfield) retires.

For those of you who are not big on reading thick, ridiculously long books, but you would still like to benefit from a self-help tool, this book that I’m recommending today might be perfect for you! There are exercises for you to do so that you can actually apply what you’re learning to your life, but the book is thin and the content is a pretty quick read for most people.

Today’s topic and this month’s review is on Jack Canfield’s Key to Living the Law of Attraction: A Simple Guide to Creating the Life of Your Dreams.

I know that many of you are in different mental “places” right now. Some of you are just taking on your art as a serious career endeavor, others of you are just now beginning to see the fruits of your labor pay off from years of hard work. Still, there are those of you who have been steadily pursuing your artistic career for a while, and don’t feel that you have anything to show for it yet.

I’ve been through all three phrases, and it seems like I have to work through all three continuously whenever I’m faced with learning something new within my career.

No matter where you are mentally, this book can help expand your mind and attract those things that you are thinking about to you. Like magnets to a piece of metal.

Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m NEVER going to advocate sitting and waiting for things to come to you, and that success will somehow automatically follow. I’m sorry, but I just don’t believe in that because that has not been my life experience.

I believe in cause and effect. Applying my effort, skills, and talent (cause) will produce the desired results (effect) I want, or even more than I could have imagined.

Nevertheless, in order to be able to be willing to do whatever it takes to see your goals and dreams materialize, you must first have the mindset of a person who is willing to do that work. If you don’t believe that anything is going to happen from your efforts, you won’t do the work, so you don’t get the results.

Jack states that, “… we are learning that we are all participants in the creation of our lives, and we are all responsible for the state of the world we live in.”

That’s pretty powerful.

Key to Living the Law of Attraction is about you focusing on what’s important to you at the core of your being. Jack goes on to say that if you want the external life to be a certain way, you must first create the life within you to reflect that which you want externally. In other words, our life experience is a mirror of what we are on the inside, drawing to us things that we think about.

For some of you, this is challenging to digest, especially if you struggle with things that you cannot physically see. I struggle with this concept too sometimes. What you need to remember is to take all of which you can from each self and professional development tool, and apply to your career what resonates with you and what works for you.

What I like about this book is that Jack says, “The Law of Attraction is the most powerful law in the universe. Just like gravity, it is always in effect, always in motion.”

This resonates with me, and caught my attention because as much as I don’t get excited about science, science doesn’t require my belief; it simply just is. For example, can anyone argue over the existence of gravity? You accept it because it simply is, whether you want to believe in it or not.

Jack relates this concept within his book. “The Law of Attraction says you will attract into your life that which you focus on.” He explores the science behind this, and goes on to discuss visualizations, actions, meditation, among many other things.

You may not agree with everything in the book, but I promise you that you will get some sort of perspective, expand your mind more than it is right now, and because of this you will have more to move forward with in your career.

Today’s LESSON is to keep an open mind for new possibilities and new ways of looking at life.
